Distance Learning
By
Distance learning has taken off well over the last five years and industry experts predict that India will grow in stature to become the hub for imparting this mode of education. It is gaining popularity due to its many benefits. For universities, distant learning extends reach and overcomes shortage of quality teachers.
Due to its any-time any-where educational approach, many students in India are considering this as an option. People who missed out on earlier education, people looking for up-gradation of knowledge and higher education, those employed who need additional skills, and non-traditional clients are thronging towards it. Even rural students are beginning to prefer this option due to its reduced fee compared to regular courses.

Reservations System in india
By
Types of Reservation
Seats in educational institutions and jobs are reserved based on a variety of criteria. The quota system sets aside a proportion of all possible positions for members of a specific group. Those not belonging to the designated communities can compete only for the remaining positions, while members of the designated communities can compete for all positions (reserved and open). For example, when 2 out of 10 clerical positions in railways are reserved for ex-servicemen, those who have served in the Army can compete both in the General Category as well as in the specific quota.
Caste based
Seats are reserved for Schedules Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Castes (based chiefly on caste at birth) in varying ratio by the central government and state government. This caste is decided based on birth, and can never be changed. While a person can change his religion, and his economic status can fluctuate, the caste is permanent.
In central government funded higher education institutions, 22.5% of available seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (Dalit)and Scheduled Tribe (Adivasi) students (15% for SCs, 7.5% for STs). This reservation percentage has been raised to 49.5%, by including an additional 27% reservation for OBCs.

Why is computer literacy mandatory
By
The fundamental purpose of higher education is the preparation of students for their future careers. If graduates of today and tomorrow are to flourish in the modern, fastpaced high-tech world, they must be information and technology literate. The means of acquiring these skills must be imbedded in student learning and be part and parcel of their develop and maintain a robust information technology infrastructure. Unfortunately no consensus exists as to what the label “computer literate's should imply. The difficulty in both defining computer literacy and designing a satisfactory computer literacy course is evident by both the frequency of change and experimentation occurring at many institutions and by the tons of textbooks that exist for such a course. It seems as though every educator has some opinion about “computer literacy.
The need for computer literacy and the requirements of it are undergoing a significant paradigm shift over the last decade. Only once before, when personal computers made many software applications available to the general public, did the idea of computer literacy change significantly. The idea of thin clients using Internet-based applications did not succeed in the past partly because of sluggish dial-up connections. So, PC-based productivity software flourished. Now high speed

Can educators be educated about how to educate
By
The children of today will create our future tomorrow. What a better way to enhance our future than by teaching. It's becoming harder and harder to find good teachers in today's world. We need good teachers to educate and inspire our children to make our nation a success in the future.
In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, and values from one generation to another.
The term 'education' is the noun form of the verb educate. It comes from the Middle English educaten; coming from the Latin term educare, educatus meaning 'bring up, rear'; linked to educere meaning 'to lead forth' or 'bring out'. The suffix 'ion' refers to a particular action or process. It could also refer to the result of the same. It also means 'state or condition'
Teachers in educational institutions direct the education of students and might draw on many subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science and history. This process is sometimes called schooling when referring to the education of teaching only a certain subject, usually as professors at institutions of higher learning. There is also education in fields for those who want specific vocational

Tackling education problem in India
By
Education is an essential tool for self-defence in a society where social interactions include the written media. An illiterate person is significantly less equipped to defend herself in court, to obtain a bank loan, to enforce inheritance rights, to take advantage of new technology, to compete for secure employment, to get onto the right bus, to take part in political activity – in short, to participate successfully in the modern economy and society.
On a recent a trip to Asia, Bob Herbert saw an incredible effort in India around education reform focused on bringing post high-school graduates into the 21st century knowledge economy. It is quite a contrast to the state of US education reform as described in a recent Bob Herbert column, in which he interviewed Bill and Melinda Gates, who are investing billions in education reform.
Like the U.S., India faces a daunting education challenge — they need to make enormous improvements, immediately, in educating and training a very large and diverse population, with many of its people economically disadvantaged or living at a subsistence level. India has stepped up to the task, setting up a National Skill Council (NSC) to work with the Confederation of Indian Industry.

IT education In Schools

Just imagine the world in the 80s. Computers were not having any kind of influence on our lives. That time no one would have imagined that computer would one day a very important part of our life! Could we have ever imagined back in the 80s that computers would play such a huge role in our lives?
our lives?
Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using computers in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? The same was probably said with the invention of the printing press, radio, and television. All of these can be used inappropriately, but all of them have given humanity unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge. Appropriately used-- interactively and with guidance-- they have become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills.
Computers are the best means for storage and management of data, they can serve as huge knowledge bases and can be harnessed for all sorts of financial transactions owing to their processing power and storage capacities. As computers are a daily utility, they have gained immense
