Ms. M Sathiyavathy is New Secretary of Labour and Employment

Ms. M Sathiyavathy an IAS officer from the batch of 1982 from AGMUT Cadre,joined as Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India on 30.09.2016(AN) Ms. M Sathiyavathy Born on 13.05.1958 Ms. M Sathiyavathy held the chair of the Director General of Civil Aviation for the tenure of 20 Months ( 05.01.2015 to 01.08.2016). She was the first women to be the Director General of Civil Aviatio.She was serving as OSD to Ministry of Labour & Employment from 01.08.2016 till she joined as the Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment.


Government Decides to Raise EPFO Investment in ETF from 5 Per Cent to 10 Per Cent

The Government has decided to raise the Employees Provident Fund ( EPF) investment in Exchange Traded Funds from present 5 per cent to 10 per cent. Announcing this Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, the Minister of State(IC) for Labour and Employment said that the decision has been taken considering the good returns in ETF investment.

As per earlier decision EPFO is currently investing 5 per cent of the total accretion in Exchange Traders Fund (ETF). Accordingly, for the last one year, the EPFO has invested 6,577 crore in ETF for the financial year 2015-16. This investment has yielded a good return of

Shri Bandaru Dattatreya,the Union Minister of State(IC) Labour and  Employment    met   media persons after the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting that concluded here today. Briefing the media ,the Minister said that India  organized the BRICS Labour & Employment Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi under the Indian Presidency.  Over the course of two days fruitful discussions were held on areas of common labour and employment issues. The BRICS Labour and Employment Ministerial Declaration has been adopted at the end of these discussions.

Cabinet apprised of the MoU between India and South Africa in the field of Information and Communication Technologies

The Union Cabinet under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been apprised of the MoU signed on July 08, 2016 between India and South Africa for promoting bilateral cooperation in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

The MoU will help to establish inter-institutional coopera¬tion and relations between the two Parties in order to promote cooperation in the field of ICT.

It will also result in active cooperation and exchanges between the private entities, capacity building institutions, Governments and other public organizations of the two countries in the field of ICT.




First Phase of ESICS Pilot Project of Telemedicine Services Inaugurated

Shri Bandaru Dattatreya , the Minister of State for Labour and Employment inaugurated the first phase of Tele-medicine services of ESIC here today for providing specialist medical services at a distance to insured workers. With this Employees State Insurance Corporation’s(ESIC) Model Hospital Basaidarapur has been connected with three ESIS dispensaries at Katihar (Bihar), Unnao (UP) and Rudarpur (Uttrachal). As the three dispansaries came live on line , the Minister interacted with staff and patients at these centres.

ESIC has launched an ambitious Pilot Project of Tele-Medicine Services at 11 ESI locations in coordination with C-DAC, Mohali under the aegis of
