C.V.C to investigate the scam of fake IEE at IIT

New Delhi: The Ministry of  Human Resource Development (HRD) has been asked by the Central Vigilance Commission to conduct a detail investigation of the scam related to operation of some fake institute called Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Kharagpur.

This action has been taken by Central Vigilance Commission after they had recieved complain by several students that they had been duped by the faculty of the IIT as they had promised that the institute was affiliated to IIT-Kharagpur.

The ministry will be constituting a probe panel to investigate the scandal in the next few days.

Several senior faculty members from the IIT had been involved in the scam and it was also reported that the fake institute IEE had he approval of two previous directors of the IIT, namely, K.L. Chopra and S.K. Dube. IIT-Kharagpur had even allotted a staff quarter to IEE while Dube had been the director.

The unearthing of the scam has led to Ghosh being suspended and an internal enquiry being conducted against him. Ghosh has alleged that the fake institute had been running before he had taken over as Director of the institute and said that the faculty members were not involved in the running of the institute.
