The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday issued a notification announcing examination dates and procedure for filling up 440 engineering positions in various departments of the central government.
The notification for the 2017 Engineering Services Examination was posted on the commission’s official website .
Approximately 440 posts in
1) Civil Engineering
2) Mechanical Engineering
3) Electrical Engineering
4) Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
All categories would be filled through the examination.
The last date to apply for the examination is October 26.
Aspirants are required to check eligibility conditions and instructions before applying for the exam, exclusively through the website www.upsconline.nic.in .
Selection process:
The Engineering Services Examination will be conducted in three stages:
1) The preliminary
2) The Main
3) The Personality Test.
The preliminary examination will be held tentatively on January 8, 2017 at various centres across the country. There will be negative marking for wrong answers by a candidate in the objective type question papers.
Candidates will be required to choose their preferred examination centre while applying. The commission will allot the centre on first-come-first-serve basis. Ceiling will also be applied on applicants on the number of candidates allotted to various examination center cities except Chennai, Delhi, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur.Candidates shall be issued an e-admission certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination and will be available on the official website.
Age criteria: A candidate must be 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the January 1, 2017. Age relaxation for reserved categories is granted as per the rules.
Exam pattern: In the prelims, for paper 1, 200 marks questions will be asked on general studies and engineering aptitude. The paper duration is two hours. Paper 2 will be three hour long and 300 marks questions on civil engineering/ mechanical engineering/ electrical engineering/ electronics & telecommunication engineering will be asked.
There will be negative marking for wrong answers by a candidate in the objective type question papers.
After the preliminary and main examination, there will be a personality test. Keep all your documents attested to avoid last minute rush.
Exam fee: Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 200 (female/SC/ST/ PH who are from payment of fee) .
